R&D Plastics Recycling Program Update

R&D Plastics has taken the next step with our recycling program. We are diverting 65,000 Lbs (per year) of scrap material that normally was sent to a landfill. We have a new arrangement with Agri-Plas in Brooks, Oregon. Agri-Plas is taking all of our mixed plastic including purge and floor sweepings. In a March 16 press release, Agri-Plas said it is taking discarded and unwanted plastic from landfills or is abandoned, burned, or buried on Northwest farms and nurseries and is converting it back into synthetic crude oil. Plastic products include dirty agricultural film, greenhouse cover, mixed nursery and jug material, prepackaged food containers and lids, and other low- or zero-value plastics too dirty to economically bring to a higher value through normal recycling efforts. Agri-Plas recently delivered its first full tanker (8,200 gallons) of oil to a refinery in Tacoma, Wash., which translates to a final delivery of 196 barrels of oil.

Thank You!

I would like to thank everyone who helped collect pop can tabs at R&D Plastics. These tabs were donated to Visitation School in Forest Grove who intern gave them to the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald house recycles the tabs and uses the money to provide long term housing to parents of children with extended hospital stays. Visitation collected almost 70 Lbs of tabs. Remember to save your tabs for next year.

Thank You All,

Tino
